Game & Fish Department

We recently had a deer on our property that became trapped in the neighbors fence. Unfortunately the top wire of the fence is barb wire and the doe got a leg caught in it. I called the Game Warden and she showed up within 15 minutes at 815am. She asked me to help her. It was a great experience to be up close to an animal and help it. Luckily it was just sore and limped out of the yard a few hours later. Needless to say, the barb wire will be coming down (I did not put it up). Very friendly staff who obviously cared about the local wildlife. Their number will now be in my phone just in case. We get all kinds of animals roaming through. My favorites are the skunks. Who knew they moved so slow? No wonder the poor animals are always run over. We also get road runners, one bear in the past three years, rabbits galore, stupid cows, and ground hogs galore. I love the rural town. These deer always cross my property and I have seen the little ones miss the fence jump at night. This incident just proved to me that barb wire is not needed on our property. Thanks again for the help. Glad we did not have to shoot it...although...they are tasty!
