Incident that occurred last Thursday. ...I have been coming here since purchasing a home in Surprise in 2007. All my Military friend's told me about their discounts, which are only on Thursday's. So, ten years of shopping here has finally came to an end! I shopped here last Thursday with my hubby and son, and was harrassed, and racially profiled by a cashier named Kim. She is an older woman there. I believe she is the one compared to "Adolph Hitler," by another reviewer below. I have always shopped here for sales/clearance on cosmetics.
From the time I walked in to the store, she watched me, and never took her eyes off me. I could feel her cold glare on me. I walked back and forth, looking at the various items and clearance items, and colors. I observed that I was the only person in cosmetics as she called on the loud speaker "Manager to Cosmetics. Manager to Cosmetics." The Manager, Sandy came to cosmetics, and at that time my hubby walked by. She looked dumbstruck, and looked around, and then asked if we needed any help. I said "No, I do not, and did not ask or needed any help, but I noticed that the woman cashier called for her, and I am the only person here." My hubby did tell her that I was looking for NYX makeup, and she mentioned they did not carry it. That was that.
As my hubby and son, were walking and browsing around the store, they saw Kim call out to her co-worker, while other customer's were observing, and she placed her two fingers on her face, near her eyes, motioning for her to keep an eye on me. I didn't know this at the time. My daughter came to the store, while I was there, to also purchase makeup. She is a makeup enthusiast, and spends loads of money on cosmetics. After carefully choosing our colors and cosmetics, we head to the register, while psycho woman continuously is still watching me, and observes us. I approach another cashier, Daniel, and I pay for the items, as well as receive my Military discount, and leave the store.
My hubby and son, told me what Kim did inside the store, and in front of customer's!! I was beyond baffled, embarrassed and humiliated that my daughter, and I were racially profiled like that by a Walgreen's Employee, and in front of customer's!! I went back into the store to confront her, and to speak with a Manager. The confrontation continued, and I mentioned that another employee there named "Pat," always helped me pick and choose my colors of cosmetics, and I have never been treated like that by anyone, ever! So, all the Manager, Sandy had to say was "Oh, we don't have any employee's here by that name, and we have NEVER had Military discounts here, ever!! I described the employee, and forgot her name was actually "Chris." I also mentioned that she helped me everytime, when I went there in the evenings to purchase cosmetics. Again, all the Manager, Sandy's response was "Chris doesn't work nights. She only works days." Okay, who cares! That's beyond the point of the matter! I was beyond upset by that point, and was speechless to get treated like that, and not a thing done by this so-called 'Manager!'
My daughter's boyfriend goes in this time, after seeing how upset I was. He goes in to speak with the Manager; and then goes back out to get my daughter, and I, so they can both apologize to us, since they apparently agreed to apologize. Didn't happen! It escalated, and the cashier, Daniel tells him "Okay, you proved your point. What are you gonna do about it?!" He responds back, "What are you gonna do about it?" The cashier, Daniel throws down his push broom, and hurriedly, and abruptly walks towards him in a hostile manner!! My daughter at this point just tells him "let's go." Meanwhile psycho woman, Kim says "I'm calling the police!" On her hostile co-worker that tried to pick a fight with a customer?!?! Seriously?!!
The Corporate office was contacted, and are supposed to be reviewing the incident. The video was also viewed. Ruth Blake is the person who was supposed to get back with us. This was this past Tuesday.
